Three junior German talents reached the semi-finals

Julian Lenz (GER)Julian Lenz (GER)At the International German Junior Championships on the grounds of the LTTC “Rot-Weiss” at the Berlin Lake Hundekehle, German hopes focus on the junior boys. With Constantin Christ (Frankfurt), Julian Lenz (Bad Homburg) and the Wimbledon quarter finalist, Robin Kern (Nurnberg), three players managed to reach the semi-finals. Christ won against Esteve Lobato (Spain) 6:4 in the third set. But looking at Lenz’s match the margin was even narrower, winning 7:6 against Luke Bambridge (GBR) in the third set. Both matches provided top-class tennis for an enthusiastic audience. Less trouble had Kern who was able to beat Konstantin Gerlakh (Russia) without any apparent effort. Daniel Masur (Westfalia), on the other hand, was eliminated, but he put up a good fight until in the end his antagonist, Adam Pavlasek from Czechia managed to win the tie break in the third set. On Saturday the semi-finalists will therefore be Lenz against Christ and Kern against Pavlasek.

Looking at the junior girls this year’s tournament has been played without any German competition since Thursday. Today Victoria Kan managed to take one further step towards defending her title. She won against the Orangebowl winner Alexandra Kick (USA) in two sets. In the semi-finals she will meet the Croatian Iva Mekovic, who barely managed to triumph over the Czechian Klara Fabikova 6:4 in the third set. The second semi-finals match will be played/fought by Donna Vekic (Croatia, winner against Elizaveta Kulichkova from Russia) and Anna Danilina (Kasakhstan, winner against Valeria Patiuk from Israel).

Matches on Saturday will begin at 01.00 p.m. with the semi-finals singles. Afterwards the doubles finals will be held/played.
