German juniors were successful

Kiick best off Airberlin Juniors 07072011 064Alexandra Kiick (USA)At the International German Junior Championships the German junior boys were very successful in today’s matches. The tournament favourites Julian Lenz (Bad Homburg) and Robin Kern (Nurnberg) both had a walk-over and won easily in two sets. Constantin Christ (Frankfurt), on the other hand, had to fight hard before he finally triumphed over Herkko Pollanen with 6:2 in the third set. In an exclusively German duel Daniel Masur (Westfalia) won against Adrian Obert ((Oberweyer, Bavaria) by a clear margin.

It is a pity that all German junior girls were eliminated today. Katharina Lehnert (against Alexandra Kiick, USA), Majlena Petersen (against Valeria Patiuk, Israel), Tayisya Morderger (against Elizaveta Kulchkova, Russia) and Sonja Larsen (against Donna Vekic, Croatia) lost their matches more or less clear-cut. Next to Vekic, the title-holder Victoria Kan who reached the quarter finals with an easy victory, obviously still belongs to the circle of favourites. Her match against Alexandra Klick on Friday is eagerly anticipated.

Friday matches will begin at 01.00 p.m. with the quarter finals singles and the semi -finals doubles
