Yaroslav Shyla (BER)At the International German Junior Championships the favourites triumphed in most matches. Title-holder Victoria Kan (Russia) and the second seeded Donna Vekic (Croatia) won both their matches in two sets without any problems. There is good news about the German girls. Four of them reached the round of the last 16. Katharina Lehnert and Sonja Larsen (both training at the federal sports center of the German Tennis Association in Hannover), Majlena Petersen (Braunschweig) and Tayisya Morderger (Westfalia) managed to survive the second round of the main field.

The two Italians Matteo Donati and Luca Pancaldi, defeating both top-seeded players on Tuesday, couldn’t savour yesterday’s victory for long, They were both eliminated today, being defeated by Constantin Christ (Palmgarten Frankfurt) and Adrian Obert (Oberweiher). Apart from the German carriers of hope, Robin Kern (Nürnberg) and Julian Lenz (Bad Homburg), we should watch Yaroslav Shyla (Belarus) who so far has managed to play his way through the tournament without any problems and without losing one set.

Not unexpectedly, both remaining Berliners, Pascal Schubert and Julian Heikenfeld, were eliminated today. Still it was a success for both of them when they reached the second round.
